I have been making my own with blanks and leather from a vendor on Amazon, but feel I chose the wrong weight leather which makes my strops thinner (should have chose 9oz). These strops are thick and consistent with a firmness that is not mushy and probably won't round your apex unless you're smashing it into the blade. They come really dry and soak up any diamond compound I put on them. For the price it's nice to just load them and get after it right out of the box to dispose of the burr and polish the edge.

I love these strops. They don't cost too mucb and the leather is thick and very consistent. I make strops with aluminum blanks, but these are better than even I make. I don't bother with kangaroo or wood. These do just fine with some poly diamond emulsion on them.
